Wetland Trips

Hey guys!

So I've talked a lot in the videos about how much I love the wetlands course I'm taking, mainly because of the weekly field trips we get to go on. I took a lot of pictures the past couple of trips and wanted to share some of the beautiful things I've gotten to see.
The following will give you an idea of the types of areas that we've been exploring. I find these forests so gorgeous, mostly because they're so different from the wetlands I'm used to seeing at home. These forests are called Bottomland Hardwood Forests and are common down here between the Mississippi alluvial valley and the East Coast.

Today, we visited a Cyprus pond, which gets it's name from being heavily dominated by Bald Cyprus trees that are able to grow in areas that are constantly underwater. I loved this area! I felt like I was trapped in a scene of the notebook :)

There was some interesting features and creatures at the wetlands too!

This is some salamander spawn we found in the shallow parts of the water. I've never seen it before so I got so excited!

This is some pretty moss and fungi that I found at one of the sites

Sorry if this is a nerdy and boring post! But I wanted to share some of the things that I am passionate about school-wise. Hope you enjoy it :)
